Island Sports was started over 30 years ago in Martha’s Vineyard. Through the years, the store has grown and changed locations; finally settling in Middletown, RI, close to Easton’s Beach and the famous Cliff Walk.
In 2007, Island Sports was purchased by Symon Cousens and Exum Pike. The two stores have established themselves over the years as the places to go in New England for extreme sporting goods. We have more than 8,000 square feet of retail space with over 800 new and used surfboards in stock.
Island Sports, located at 86 Aquidneck Avenue, caters to active lifestyle families. Island Sports sells clothing by Quiksilver, Roxy, Volcom, The North Face, Patagonia, Hurley, O’Neill and Burton and many others. We also carry hard goods such as surfboards, windsurfers, snowboards, beach cruisers, skateboards and wetsuits.
Elemental Surf & Skate is located at 89 Aquidneck Avenue. Elemental focuses on hard-to-find clothing and shoe brands such as Nike SB, Supra, DC, and Emerica. Elemental carries clothing from RVCA, KR3W, Hurley, DC, Emerica, Matix and Nike SB. Elemental offers a great selection of limited edition skateboards by Element, Zoo York, Plan B, and Pocket Pistols.
Together our stores offer surfboards from Bing, Yater, Hobie, Channel Islands, Rusty, Lost, G&S, and Kane Garden. Wetsuits and accessories from Ripcurl, O’Neill, Billabong, Quiksilver, and Xcel can also be found in our stores.

John Maedke, the General Manager, has worked for Island Sports for over five years. John is one of our resident windsurfing experts and has extensive knowledge in surfing and skateboarding.
Ryan Milligan is the Manager of Elemental Surf and Skate. Ryan just joined our team and previously worked at Huntington Beach Surf Shop. He has an active role in surfing and pool skateboarding.
Paul McKenna has worked for Island Sports for over ten years. Paul is our bicycle mechanic and snow and skate technician. Paul also assists in the windsurfing and surfing departments.
Andy Phy runs our Third Beach Rental Facility and is also our head windsurfing instructor. Andy is proficient in training from beginning to expert level.
Donna Lavigne works in our retail store and has been here for over six years. Donna provides excellent customer service and keeps her customers in mind when new products come in.
Kristen Razza is our Buyer and is new to the Island Sports team. She has been buying for over eight years.
